Premium clothing deserves proper care.
This DonCapi™ Clothing Care Guide explains how to wash, dry, store and look after your clothing so it keeps its shape, colour, print quality and overall feel for as long as possible.
Always check the care label on your garment first. The care label on the product should take priority over general guidance.
1. General Care Advice
To keep your DonCapi™ clothing looking sharp:
- read the care label before washing;
- wash similar colours together;
- turn printed or embroidered items inside out;
- use a gentle wash where possible;
- avoid bleach;
- avoid high heat;
- avoid overloading the washing machine;
- reshape garments after washing;
- air dry where possible;
- store clothing clean and dry.
Good care helps protect fabric, colour, fit, print, embroidery and garment structure.
2. Washing DonCapi™ Clothing
Unless the care label says otherwise, we recommend:
- washing at a low temperature;
- using a gentle or normal cycle;
- washing dark colours separately;
- washing whites separately;
- washing bright colours separately;
- turning garments inside out;
- using mild detergent;
- avoiding fabric softener on performance fabrics or printed items.
Cold or low-temperature washing is usually better for protecting colour, shape and print quality.
3. Washing Printed Clothing
For printed T-shirts, hoodies, sweatshirts and other printed items:
- turn the garment inside out;
- wash at a low temperature;
- use mild detergent;
- avoid bleach;
- avoid strong stain removers on the print;
- avoid tumble drying where possible;
- do not iron directly over the print;
- do not dry clean unless the care label says it is safe.
Heat and friction can damage prints over time.
4. Washing Embroidered Clothing
For embroidered items:
- turn the garment inside out;
- wash on a gentle cycle;
- avoid harsh detergents;
- avoid bleach;
- avoid rubbing the embroidery;
- reshape after washing;
- air dry where possible;
- iron inside out on low heat if needed.
Do not pull loose threads. If a small thread appears, carefully trim it rather than pulling it.
5. Hoodies and Sweatshirts
To care for hoodies and sweatshirts:
- wash inside out;
- use a low-temperature wash;
- avoid washing with rough items such as zips or heavy denim;
- air dry flat or on a wide hanger;
- reshape cuffs, hem and hood after washing;
- avoid high heat drying;
- avoid ironing over prints or embroidery.
Heavyweight garments may take longer to dry. Allow them to dry naturally and fully before storing.
6. T-Shirts
To care for T-shirts:
- wash with similar colours;
- turn printed designs inside out;
- use low temperature;
- avoid bleach;
- avoid tumble drying where possible;
- reshape while damp;
- iron inside out if needed.
To keep the fit clean, avoid over-drying or exposing cotton-rich garments to high heat.
7. Joggers and Trousers
To care for joggers and trousers:
- wash inside out;
- empty pockets before washing;
- close zips or fastenings where applicable;
- wash with similar colours;
- avoid high heat;
- air dry where possible;
- reshape waistband and cuffs after washing.
For elasticated waistbands, avoid excessive heat because it may weaken elasticity over time.
8. Caps and Headwear
For caps and structured headwear:
- check the care label first;
- spot clean where possible;
- avoid machine washing unless the label says it is safe;
- use a damp cloth and mild soap;
- avoid soaking structured caps;
- air dry naturally;
- keep away from direct high heat.
Machine washing may affect cap shape, brim structure and embroidery.
9. Socks
To care for socks:
- wash with similar colours;
- avoid bleach;
- avoid high heat;
- air dry where possible;
- keep pairs together after washing.
High heat may affect elasticity and fit.
10. Drying Advice
Air drying is usually best.
To dry DonCapi™ clothing:
- reshape garments after washing;
- dry flat where suitable;
- use a hanger for some items;
- keep away from radiators and direct high heat;
- avoid prolonged direct sunlight on dark colours;
- do not tumble dry unless the care label says it is safe.
High heat can cause shrinkage, fading, cracking of prints or damage to fibres.
11. Tumble Drying
Avoid tumble drying unless the care label clearly allows it.
Tumble drying may:
- shrink cotton-rich garments;
- fade colours;
- damage prints;
- weaken elastic;
- affect garment shape;
- cause pilling;
- reduce the lifespan of clothing.
If tumble drying is allowed, use a low heat setting.
12. Ironing
Before ironing, check the care label.
General ironing advice:
- iron inside out;
- use low to medium heat;
- avoid ironing over prints;
- avoid ironing over embroidery directly;
- use a cloth between the iron and delicate areas;
- do not iron waterproof, coated or heat-sensitive materials unless permitted.
For printed items, never place a hot iron directly onto the design.
13. Steaming
Steaming can be a gentler option for removing creases.
When steaming:
- keep the steamer moving;
- avoid holding steam too close for too long;
- be careful around prints, embroidery and labels;
- let the garment dry fully before wearing or storing.
Always check whether the fabric is suitable for steaming.
14. Bleach and Strong Chemicals
Do not use bleach unless the care label specifically allows it.
Avoid:
- chlorine bleach;
- strong stain removers;
- harsh chemical cleaners;
- excessive fabric softener;
- cleaning sprays not designed for clothing.
Strong chemicals may damage fabric, fade colours or affect prints and embroidery.
15. Stain Removal
For stains:
- treat the stain as soon as possible;
- blot, do not rub;
- use a mild stain remover suitable for the fabric;
- test on a hidden area first;
- avoid applying strong products directly to prints or embroidery;
- wash according to the care label.
Do not use high heat on a stained item before the stain is removed, as heat can set the stain.
16. Colour Care
To help protect colour:
- wash dark colours separately;
- wash bright colours separately;
- turn garments inside out;
- use low temperature;
- avoid direct sunlight when drying;
- avoid bleach;
- do not leave wet garments piled together.
Some colour fading can occur naturally with washing and wear.
17. Shrinkage
Some natural fibres, especially cotton-rich fabrics, may shrink slightly after washing.
To reduce shrinkage:
- wash at low temperature;
- avoid tumble drying;
- reshape while damp;
- air dry naturally;
- follow the care label.
Incorrect washing or high heat may cause noticeable shrinkage.
18. Pilling and Bobbling
Pilling can happen when fibres rub together during wear or washing.
To reduce pilling:
- wash garments inside out;
- avoid washing with rough fabrics;
- use a gentle cycle;
- avoid overloading the washing machine;
- air dry where possible.
Small bobbles can sometimes be removed with a fabric comb or lint remover, used carefully.
19. Storage
Store DonCapi™ clothing clean and dry.
Storage tips:
- fold heavy knitwear or heavyweight hoodies;
- hang structured pieces on suitable hangers;
- keep clothing away from damp areas;
- avoid direct sunlight for long periods;
- do not store dirty or damp clothing;
- allow garments to fully dry before storing.
Good storage helps preserve shape, colour and fabric quality.
20. Product-Specific Care
Some DonCapi™ products may have special care instructions depending on:
- fabric type;
- print method;
- embroidery;
- garment weight;
- dye process;

This means care instructions may vary between product lines.
Always check:
- garment label;
- product page;
- packaging information;
- any care card included with the item.
22. What Can Damage Clothing
Common causes of avoidable damage include:
- washing too hot;
- tumble drying on high heat;
- ironing directly over prints;
- using bleach;
- washing with sharp zips or Velcro;
- overloading the machine;
- leaving wet clothes in the machine too long;
- drying on direct heat;
- using strong stain removers incorrectly;
- ignoring care labels.
Damage caused by incorrect care, misuse, wear and tear or failure to follow care instructions may not be treated as a product fault.
